008. [Text / Action for Goldenrod Rocket Base]
[TEXT]
Is there a way to make yourself stop thinking about someone that obviously isn't worth your time?
I feel like I've done everything I can to deal with the situation, so it's not like business is unfinished. And before you suggest forgiveness or something stupid like that, it isn't an option after what this person did, so don't bother. I just can't let this go for whatever reason and it's getting inconvenient and stupid and I'd rather not deal with it anymore, but deciding that you're not going to think about something is a waste of time for obvious reasons.
I don't care if I never stop hating them. I just want to stop thinking about it, and if I could cut out whatever part of my brain is responsible for that, I would.
[ACTION]
[Alfred hasn't been staying in the Goldenrod base for some time, having grown rather bored with it in terms of living arrangements (and besides, having his own place was far more fun in terms of interior decorating, if by "fun" we all understand he means that he's been taking time to make the place look like he may in fact be possessed by demons and is building some sort of really childish lair of the damned); that doesn't mean he won't come back once in a while, however, especially when he's in the mood to destroy things that aren't acceptable to destroy in public.
Like his Pinsir. He's enjoying setting that on fire today.
There's no immediately obvious point to it, nor is it proper training. It's just general "I want to set this thing on fire and make it scream like hell, so I will," and he knows better than to think this will be acceptable anywhere outside. So he's in one of the training arenas, just using his Rapidash, Jubilee, to burn the hell out of it.
He wastes a couple of revives on it so he can repeat the experience; he's spent the entire process in silence, though he's had his hand clamped over his mouth almost the entire time and he's shaking a bit, and after a while his eyes had slid closed. He sort of hates himself for all of that - he's better than that and he knows it - but after a while it stops bothering him and starts feeling cathartic, and when he opens his eyes again they're bright but he's generally okay, and he recalls both the wretched thing he's been burning and Jubilee, and he's pretty sure he can get on with his day now that whatever that was has been taken care of.]

[He realizes exactly why about two seconds after he sends it and immediately wishes he could take that text back. Great. Good job, Isaac. A+.]

Yeah. I know a few people in this organization who have done some pretty awful things.
no subject
So there's no point in being coy about it, is my point. What did you grow a conscience over?
no subject
I attempted to take out a threat to my country, by using extreme methods that resulted in numerous deaths and a lot of property damage. I wasn't able to take this guy out either, so in the end I just caused a lot of damage for nothing.
no subject
You know, I wasn't expecting you to actually tell me, but all right, then.
I can see where that's kind of depressing, I suppose. The futility of it all, I mean.
no subject
Yeah. I learned a lot about what I could have done differently here, but that doesn't matter obviously.
no subject
So what "bigger things" do you have to worry about here?
no subject
That's none of your business.

You're not getting an answer for that one.

So there was one person you were up against, and apparently destroying him was something that would logically warrant a lot of property damage and everyone dying in some horrible way or another.
Who on earth were you trying to kill? Someone with diplomatic immunity?

So you're a political dissenter, then? Or are you someone who knows more than he should?

no subject
Well, that's why you failed.
Killing Hitler never works.

no subject
Well, who were you trying to kill, if it wasn't Hitler?
