008. [Text / Action for Goldenrod Rocket Base]

[TEXT]

Is there a way to make yourself stop thinking about someone that obviously isn't worth your time?

I feel like I've done everything I can to deal with the situation, so it's not like business is unfinished. And before you suggest forgiveness or something stupid like that, it isn't an option after what this person did, so don't bother. I just can't let this go for whatever reason and it's getting inconvenient and stupid and I'd rather not deal with it anymore, but deciding that you're not going to think about something is a waste of time for obvious reasons.

I don't care if I never stop hating them. I just want to stop thinking about it, and if I could cut out whatever part of my brain is responsible for that, I would.

[ACTION]

[Alfred hasn't been staying in the Goldenrod base for some time, having grown rather bored with it in terms of living arrangements (and besides, having his own place was far more fun in terms of interior decorating, if by "fun" we all understand he means that he's been taking time to make the place look like he may in fact be possessed by demons and is building some sort of really childish lair of the damned); that doesn't mean he won't come back once in a while, however, especially when he's in the mood to destroy things that aren't acceptable to destroy in public.

Like his Pinsir. He's enjoying setting that on fire today.

There's no immediately obvious point to it, nor is it proper training. It's just general "I want to set this thing on fire and make it scream like hell, so I will," and he knows better than to think this will be acceptable anywhere outside. So he's in one of the training arenas, just using his Rapidash, Jubilee, to burn the hell out of it.

He wastes a couple of revives on it so he can repeat the experience; he's spent the entire process in silence, though he's had his hand clamped over his mouth almost the entire time and he's shaking a bit, and after a while his eyes had slid closed. He sort of hates himself for all of that - he's better than that and he knows it - but after a while it stops bothering him and starts feeling cathartic, and when he opens his eyes again they're bright but he's generally okay, and he recalls both the wretched thing he's been burning and Jubilee, and he's pretty sure he can get on with his day now that whatever that was has been taken care of.]

But you see? I've successfully distracted you, even if it was for a second.

In all seriousness though, if they're almost always in your thoughts, maybe things aren't as wrapped up as you claim them to be?
majorcrotchgrab: (✪ is that so?)

You may just have to learn to deal with it as cliché as that is.

As for the person who wronged you, I've found that the world has a funny way of settling scores sometimes. You might not even need to lift a finger and they could get screwed over.

If can be fun occasionally to take matters into your own hands but I much prefer sitting back and watching as "the shit hits the fan." Or however that weird American quote goes.

When you can't actually be blamed for them getting screwed over, it makes things all the more satisfying.

Once bitten, twice shy in my case. I used to approach matters like that but... it eventually caught up with me.

Hm. Actually... What if you wrote down every little idea of how you'd exact revenge against them no matter how silly or impossible they might seem?

Then you can read through them whenever you want and have the scenes play out in your head. I know it won't actually do anything but it might get rid of some of your frustration. It's harmless for the most part.

[hint hint. it's harmless until you actually use one. ;3 And they'll be right on hand, all properly planned out.]

[He may have softened up over the years (getting exiled from your country will do that to you) but he's still passive aggressive as hell.]

Ivan Raidenovitch Raikov.

And I'm glad I could help.

A pleasure indeed, Alfred. Try not to have too much fun.
