Durants aren't terribly difficult to handle, though I assume that's a result of my only having the one and not allowing any sort of colony to form. They're hive insects, naturally; as such, keeping too many would likely be a problem, but if they're individually-kept they're surprisingly docile - or at least, Victor has been.
