I've had a few from my world here who went into the coma-like states where they awoke with new memories. Although most were from before my current time and simply moved forward in the timeline -

Well, I was usually told that things remain in as logical progression as the world can ever be. I must agree with you: it's very hard to tell.

One person did tell me that there had been an alien invasion, but it got better. He wasn't even the person I would have expected to hear that sort of thing from, so I have no idea what to think of it.
