009. [Text/Action for Goldenrod Rocket Base]

[TEXT]

So it seems that the running theme on the network this summer is "We're all terrible people and/or have no idea how to handle ourselves in groups." Good to know, I suppose.

Since I'm particularly bored but otherwise actually am having a very good day today (thank you very much), maybe all of you can regale me with some of that optimism you seem to like so much. Or you can be needlessly pessimistic, I don't really care. I just want to hear stories.

So why don't you talk about something you've accomplished since you've been here? I don't care how important it is in the scheme of things. Just something you've gotten done.

Since I'm sure somebody is going to ask for my reasoning in asking, I'm coming up on a year of being here, though I still have some time yet. I suppose this sort of thing is on my mind.

[ACTION]

[Alfred spends so much time in one of the training arenas in the base, just beating the living hell out of his Pokémon, that he might as well move in.

Today he has a couple of more recent additions to his team with him; the first and most obvious is the snarling shark he's got lunging in his general direction. For once, he doesn't seem to mind that the thing is having a go at him; rather to the contrary, he's laughing in a way that isn't exactly comforting, the sound alternating between strange high-pitched giggling and something that's decidedly less annoying but also decidedly less controlled. Fortunately Sharpedos are all speed and no angling maneuverability, so it's fairly easy to get out of the way of it once it charges him; it takes a while for the thing to correct, turn around and have at him again. It's like fighting an incredibly fast sunfish in that regard, really; sharp angles just leave it smacking its face into what's in front of it.

Of course, there comes the occasional moment where the thing corners him, because there are only so many places to go in this room before Alfred finds himself backed up against a sharp angle formed by the joins in the walls; that's when the second Pokémon he's got with him comes into play. He has a Remoraid that he's been keeping close by him, just kind of doing the usual water-type hoverdance by his side; once he finds himself needing it, it doesn't take long for him to...

...dear god, Alfred, what are you doing. Other than "grabbing the fish and bracing it up against you like a rifle, and promptly Aurora Beaming that Sharpedo in the face," that is, because that's exactly what he's doing.

In other words, he's got a gunfish and an irrationally pissed off shark, and he's having himself a grand time. Good lord.]

Valuable enough.

[Nagi's gaze narrows briefly as he shifts where he stands to face Alfred a bit more directly, instead of talking at him out of the corner of his mouth.

His eyes fall again onto the Remoraid after a short pause.]

Do you always manhandle your Pokemon in the pursuit of training them?
aufsassig: i'm utterly enthralled by your bullshit (DEADPAN ★ no really please go on)

I wonder how many we could actually breed.

That'd be like exponential growth, right?
unkinder: (☆ I cannot stand to look in the mirror)

[personal profile] unkinder 2014-08-21 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
[No, it wasn't.

Nagi sighs, glancing down when the Ralts still in his arms finally chances a look at who he's talking to, not quite as unnerved now that the Sharpedo is gone.]

It's the concern of someone curious to know why on earth...that would ever be necessary or appropriate during battle.

[Oh look, Alfred, someone is actually responding to the question you posed instead of heckling you during your very important gunfish practice.]

started my own circus all on my own

cant get more cheerier or accomplished than that

[And no children have been kidnapped either, so that's pretty rad too.]

To put it simply, I've gotten to experience love as humans experience it. That is an amazing thing.

A little less world-changing, I get to fly regularly on a dinosaur that has giant leaves for wings. I've always had a fascination with the fantastic, and that definitely fulfils it.

Caused record breaking amounts of property damage. I consider that to be quite the accomplishment.

[He doesn't actually know if it's record breaking or not, but hey, it's a lot.]
pipers_son: (leyline) (I would never do this in real life.)

All right, that's the spirit!

[...maybe she should stand back a little so this poor man doesn't catch The Klutz from her

or so the shark doesn't go after her]

But seriously, that is some cool stuff!
aufsassig: and i'm not even a vampire, shit (GLOW ★ wow i'm ridiculously pretty)

[personal profile] aufsassig 2014-08-22 03:27 pm (UTC)(link)
And I guess if we run out of space in the computer we could always just find an empty wing of open room and set up some kind of nursery from hell for the duration.

Did you have a version of this place in your world? In mine, we had the Kanto part of this place in a video game, and some of the pokémon species, too. At times, this feels like I'm literally living a fiction that one of my fellows dreamed up.
unkinder: (☆ but I've seen despair here)

[personal profile] unkinder 2014-08-22 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Clearly.

how did i not get this notif

[The amount of "you tried" here is pretty spectacular...]

Do you do this sort of training often? It doesn't seem very... practical. Your Sharpedo's going to hate you if you keep that up.
